WordPress Can Do Exactly What You Need

No plugin on the market does exactly what your business needs. I build it, clean, documented, and built to WordPress Coding Standards so it updates safely forever.

When Off-the-Shelf Plugins Fall Short

The Plugin Compromise Trap

  • No plugin does exactly what you need, you buy 3 and cobble them together
  • Plugin conflict causes white screen errors, costing you revenue and users
  • The plugin you depend on gets abandoned and stops updating
  • Bloated plugin loads 40 scripts on every page, destroying performance
  • Confidential business logic runs on a third-party plugin you can't control
  • No way to customize behavior without hacking the plugin (then updates break it)

The Custom Plugin Advantage

  • Exactly the features you need, nothing more, nothing less
  • No conflicts, built and tested specifically for your environment
  • You own the code, it doesn't disappear when a vendor closes up
  • Minimal footprint, loads only what's needed, only where it's needed
  • Business logic is under your control, not a third party's policy
  • Changes are simple, no hacks, no workarounds, just clean code

What You Get

  • Discovery workshop: requirements, user roles, edge cases documented
  • Technical spec: data model, hooks, endpoints, admin UI wireframes
  • PHP development to WordPress Coding Standards (WPCS)
  • Custom post types, taxonomies, meta boxes, admin pages
  • REST API endpoints and third-party service integrations
  • Security: nonces, capability checks, sanitization, prepared queries
  • Testing: local staging, UAT, and deployment to production
  • Full inline code documentation + user guide for non-technical admins

From Idea to Production

Every plugin goes through the same disciplined cycle, no phases skipped, no shortcuts. The spec is locked before a line of code is written.

How a Plugin Project Runs

Step 01

Discovery Call

A structured 60-minute call where I ask the right questions: who uses the plugin, what data it touches, how it connects to other plugins, and what "done" looks like.

Step 02

Technical Specification

I write and share a full spec document before coding begins: database schema, hook/filter map, admin UI wireframes, REST API endpoints, and security model. You approve it.

Step 03

Development

Code written to WordPress Coding Standards (WPCS) with full inline PHPDoc. All database queries use wpdb prepared statements. All output is properly escaped.

Step 04

Staging & UAT

Deployed to a staging environment matching your production server. You test it against real scenarios. I iterate on feedback before production release.

Step 05

Deploy & Handover

Production deployment with rollback plan. Delivered with user documentation, the full source code (you own it), and a 30-day bug-fix warranty period.

Plugin Development FAQs

Who owns the code after the plugin is built?

You do. Full source code is delivered to you at project completion. I retain no ownership, license rights, or rights to resell the code. The plugin is built for your specific use case and is yours, including the right to have another developer maintain or extend it later. I do ask that you do not represent the code as your own work in any public repository or resell it as a product, which is covered in the project agreement.

How much does a custom WordPress plugin cost?

Plugin complexity varies enormously, a simple CPT (custom post type) with an admin UI might take 8–12 hours; a REST API integration with a complex third-party service might take 40–80 hours. I provide a fixed-price quote after the discovery call and the technical specification is written, so there are no surprises. The spec is written first, which means the quote is based on actual scope, not a guess.

Can you extend or modify an existing plugin?

Yes, this is common. The preferred approach is writing a companion plugin that hooks into the original plugin's provided hooks and filters, rather than modifying the original plugin's files (which would break on updates). If the original plugin doesn't expose the hooks you need, I can assess whether a fork is justified or whether a different integration approach achieves the same result.

What kinds of plugins have you built?

Examples include: custom lead capture and CRM integrations, booking and appointment schedulers, license key management systems for software products, WooCommerce product configurators, directory and listing plugins with advanced filtering, REST API wrappers for external services (payment gateways, shipping providers, marketing automation tools), and admin reporting dashboards that aggregate data from multiple sources.

Do you provide support and updates after the plugin is delivered?

Every project includes a 30-day bug-fix warranty, if something breaks due to a bug in the delivered code, I fix it at no charge. Beyond that, I offer optional maintenance retainers that cover compatibility updates when WordPress or PHP versions change, feature extensions, and priority bug fixes. Maintenance is recommended for plugins that interact with third-party APIs, since those can change their API contracts without notice.

Describe what you need in the contact form, the more detail the better. I'll come back with questions, not a quote, so we get the scope right first.
